ACTIVITIES
Hiking
This is a favorite activity for visitors. Trails traverse the entire area,
and offer hikes that are easy, moderate, or strenuous.
Horseback Riding
Seven qualified riding stables nearby, some offering stabling for your horse.
All offer tours for small groups and families.
Bicycling
Another Smoky Mountain favorite. There are eight trails, from 3 miles to 28
miles, including a 3 mile paved trail in the HEART of TOWNSEND. So bring
your bike.
Golf
All the usual rules and skills apply, but in a unique setting. Four 18 hole
courses and a 27 hole course are open to public.
Fishing
Our trout-filled mountain streams and the TVA system of lake offer excellent
fishing. Just grab your gear and head for the water!
Caverns
Underground caverns and waterfall. (Closed in winter.)
Little River Railroad Museum
Train and depot with memorabilia, postcards, books and history.
New Attractions
Go carts and bumper rides.
Butterfly and Wildflower Garden
St. Francis catholic church, Tuckaleechee Garden Club, Hedgewood Gardens.
Little River
Three prongs which comes from cades cove, Gatlingburg & Treemont Arcas.
Many clifts, a popular swimming hole at the Y. Tube, fish wade and collect
river rocks. Just listening to river can take your troubles away.
Wild Flowers
Spring is noted for its wildflowers, but you can find wildflowers during all
seasons.
Bird Watch
Winter is especially good for this sport.
